头发颜色（haircolor）是头发的一种色素沉着（pigmentation）现象，有深有浅（darkerorlighter）。毛囊（follicle）中的黑色素（melanin）也随着时间发生变化。发色可能与种群（ethicgroup）有关，与肤色（skintone）及眼睛颜色（eyecolor）也存在关联。自然发色有黑色（black）、棕色（brown）、金色（blond）及红色（red）等。
黑头发是最深的、也是最普遍的发色。不同质地（texture）包括直发（straight）、卷曲（curly）、波浪（wavy）、柔软（soft）及粗糙（coarse）。有红黑（rufous）、柔黑（soft）和蓝黑（blue-black）几种情况。英语中通常用jetblack或ravenblack来描述黑头发。
